FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM    

Fire extinguishing systems are a frequent term for systems employing different media to curb or extinguish fires in structures. Fire extinguishing systems are utilized to extinguish or suppress fires in all kinds of buildings. Medias to extinguish fires are different, but all of them fight at least one of those 3 standards required to possess flame; Oxygen, heat and gas.

 Fire extinguishing methods are:·

Sprinkler methods: Plumbing with sprinklers supplying water-droplets with system water stream Q < 10,000 l/min and Water pressure H < 12 bar.

Water Heater systems: Plumbing with water mist nozzles supplying water-droplets with water leak Q < 200 l/min and water pressure H 150 bar.

Fire hydrants: Provided in the majority of metropolitan areas with municipal water service to allow firefighters to tap in the water source to help out with extinguishing a fire.

 Foam methods: Systems where memory materials added to water can be used to extinguish fire.

Gas systems: Systems utilizing inert gasses such as Halon, carbon-dioxide etc.

Chemicals: Dry systems with sodium, potassium bicarbonate, ammonium phosphate etc. and moist systems employing various proprietary compound compositions. 

The building owner will determine the quality to be utilized in cooperation with his insurance provider and local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) and the consulting engineer will pick the system-type accordingly, based on construction type (manufacturing, storage, office- or even resident buildings etc..) hazard course
